I've had that. I love a good kolsch, and this is a particularly interesting take on a kolsch.

I think it is a very, very hard style to sell. I personally don't have a lot of experience with it. However what I have had has been delicious and something I hope to see breweries doing more of. In fact it is quite possible that we (Austin Beerworks) will be creating our own sometime this summer. I think the more popular sour beers become the more this style will become appreciated. Thanks again for the good commentary and getting information out about a little known style.

For the record, the Berliner Weisses I've recently had that I actually liked were Hopfenstark's and Bold Horizons. I rather liked the former.

I still think that Flying Goose's offering is a bit "off", if you have it without the raspberry syrup (which is how the abovementioned send-backer originally ordered it). It's a little too acid, and not the right acid, resulting in something that's a bit too lambicky.

Combined with the raspberry syrup, it's actually quite good, but I think their particularly good syrup masks a few flaws in the beers.

But, mostly, the failure here is on the restaurant side: the staff generally doesn't recommend the Berliner Weisse, and if you do order it, they generally won't serve it with the syrup unless you ask for it. A little staff training could greatly improve the situation.
